C19th fruitwood nursing chair, clothed beautifully in artist Janet Tristram’s ‘Bloodlines’ hand-printed linen. The cloth’s neutral ground allows the gorgeous Elizabethan ochre print to really punch out, and all upholstery is done in the traditional manner; using horsehair, hessian, calico and French tacks. The piece has the firm finish associated with horsehair, and is extremely comfortable. All edges are expertly piped. Its fruitwood legs - the front two of which are turned - are nicely patinated and stand on original brass castors. As with all Bonfield’s furniture, this piece is a true one-off.
